What you'll study

Coursework and practical training cover medical and veterinary disciplines to provide quality animal care. Topics explicitly listed by the program include:

• Veterinary nursing and surgery (preparing patients for surgery)
• Diagnostic imaging (performing radiographs)
• Sample collection and laboratory analysis
• Animal husbandry across multiple species (domesticated, laboratory, exotic, farm)
• Pharmacology and nutrition

Students apply these skills in the college’s on‑site clinic and are prepared to sit the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE).

Entry requirements

Admission requires the college‑wide prerequisites plus specific math and science courses: Math CST 563‑404/414; Science ST 555 404/444 and STE 558 404, or ATS 557 406/416 and STE 558 402 (or CÉGEP Physical Science 105‑003‑RE). Applicants must submit a letter of intent and may be invited to an in‑person interview in March. Chemistry 504 (or equivalent) and TS/SN 406/426 (or equivalent) are highly recommended. Related experience and recommended courses are considered in selection.

Career prospects

The program leads to roles in animal shelters, biomedical research, pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicine support, wildlife rehabilitation and zoology. While it is not a direct pathway to veterinary school, graduates can pursue university studies; admitted students should consult an academic advisor to confirm prerequisites for their chosen university program.

Scholarships & funding angle

Full‑time students can access the Work‑Study (Alternance Travail‑Études) option, which includes two paid summer internships.
