What you'll study

Coursework covers the scientific and social knowledge nurses need alongside practical training:

• Fundamentals of anatomy and physiology
• Microbiology relevant to healthcare
• Health psychology and the sociology of health
• Language classes tailored to nursing and the healthcare sector
• Regular laboratory exercises and simulation-based skills practice

Entry requirements

In addition to college-wide admissions criteria, applicants must meet program-specific requirements:

• Proficiency in spoken French
• Chemistry 504 (or cégep equivalent 202-001-RE)
• Science: ST 555 404/444 and STE 558 404, or ATS 557 406/416 and STE 558 402 (or cégep Physical Science 105-003-RE)
• Submission of a personal profile with the SRAM application
• A possible interview as part of selection
• Math TS/SN 406/426 (or equivalent) is highly recommended and improves chances of acceptance
• Once admitted, students must obtain CPR BLS (Basic Life Support) certification before starting studies; registration information is provided on admission

Career prospects

A DCS in Nursing equips graduates for roles in acute care hospital units, clinics (private and public), long-term care facilities, rehabilitation hospitals and remote medical centres. Graduates also have pathways to continue to university nursing programs; students should consult an academic advisor for specific prerequisites.
