A practice-oriented 7‑semester Bachelor's in Media Informatics taught in German at Friedberg, combining software engineering and media production. What you'll study

The curriculum covers both technical and creative topics. Core areas include software development, theoretical computer science and algorithms, mathematics, digital mediatechnologies, computer graphics (modelling, shading, rendering, animation), audio and video production, web and mobile technologies, media psychology and design, introduction to artificial intelligence, IT and media law, project management and career skills. Teaching mixes lectures, exercises, labs and projects.

  • Students collect 210 Credit Points across seven semesters; sample first‑semester modules include Grafische Datenverarbeitung: Modellierung, Mediengestaltung: Text und Bild, Theoretische Informatik und Algorithmik, Softwareentwicklung and Flexibles Lernen: Studieneinstieg.
  • Second semester examples: Mediengestaltung: Bewegtbild und Ton, Medienproduktion: Bewegtbild und Ton, Grafische Datenverarbeitung: Shading/Rendering, Web‑Technologien and Statistik.
  • From year two you choose one of two flexible specialisations: Medienproduktion (focus on 2D/3D animation, video production and VFX) or Web & Mobile (apps, databases, security, responsive/web development). The programme also includes games development, introductory AI, and a variety of compulsory and elective modules mapped across semesters 3–6.
  • The final (7th) semester comprises a practical placement phase, the Bachelor thesis and a colloquium.
