What you'll study

Students gain hands-on experience with recording and mixing processes, learn how to operate studio hardware and software, and study audio theory and acoustics that underpin production decisions. Training typically spans multitrack recording, editing, mixing, sound design for picture, and project workflow management, along with courses that develop ear-training, critical listening, and communication skills needed for client work.

Admission expectations generally include completion of secondary education (high school diploma or equivalent) and submission of an application. Schools often assess technical fit and motivation through a personal statement or interview and may recommend prior experience with music or basic audio tools but commonly provide foundational courses for beginners.
