What you'll study

The programme combines core taught modules with a substantial independent research or consultancy project. Typical taught subjects include real estate finance and investment, valuation methods, property development and project appraisal, property and land law, urban economics and market analysis, and property asset and portfolio management. Research methods and data analysis are taught to support the dissertation or applied research project, which allows you to specialise in an area such as valuation, development feasibility, investment strategy or sustainability in the built environment.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, seminars, case studies, industry-led workshops and group project work to reflect professional practice. Assessment mixes coursework, individual and group reports, presentations, applied modelling exercises and the final dissertation or consultancy project.

Entry requirements

• A UK bachelor’s degree at 2:1 level or above in a relevant subject (for example real estate, surveying, economics, finance, geography, planning or related disciplines), or an equivalent qualification from an overseas institution.
• Applicants with a 2:2 or other degree classification may be considered where they can demonstrate relevant professional experience in the property sector.
• Evidence of numeracy and quantitative ability is desirable; applicants without a directly related degree may be asked to provide a personal statement and references that demonstrate quantitative skills and sector interest.
• English language proficiency is required for international applicants; typical expectations are the equivalent of a recognised academic English qualification at a level suitable for postgraduate study.
