What you'll study

This programme builds a strong biomedical foundation alongside progressive development of osteopathic knowledge, manual skills and clinical reasoning. Early subjects typically cover human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, musculoskeletal pathophysiology, and foundations of clinical practice. Mid‑course units develop manual therapy techniques, patient assessment, palpation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and clinical decision‑making. Later components emphasise supervised clinical practice, case management, professional ethics, risk management, communication skills and research methods relevant to manual and musculoskeletal practice.

Learning is delivered through a mix of lectures, practical laboratory sessions (including anatomy and palpation labs), simulated patient scenarios and clinical placements. Students can expect units such as musculoskeletal anatomy, biomechanics and movement, clinical assessment and diagnostics, osteopathic technique and treatment concepts, professional practice and ethics, evidence‑based practice and a capstone clinical unit that integrates assessment and management of patients under supervision.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally required to have completed senior secondary school (or equivalent) with appropriate prerequisites, or to hold a recognised tertiary qualification. Entry pathways also include mature age entry and recognition of prior learning from relevant work or study. As this is a health‑focussed programme, applicants may be asked to provide a personal statement and/or attend an interview to assess suitability for clinical training.

All applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency through a recognised test or equivalent qualification. Successful applicants must meet industry requirements for clinical placements, which commonly include vaccination checks, a current working with children and/or police check where applicable, and compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Career prospects

Graduates of this degree progress into further professional osteopathic training or employment in allied health environments. Typical pathways include enrolment in postgraduate professional osteopathy programmes or master's level clinical training leading to registration where required, work as allied health assistants in private practice, multidisciplinary clinics and sports medicine settings, or roles in community health and rehabilitation services.
