What you'll study

The program balances practical and computational practice: approximately one quarter hands‑on projects and one quarter computer modelling and applications. Sample courses at Level 3 include:

• Building Science II (BSC1400) — applies principles of physics to building operational strategies.
• Thermodynamics (ENG1100) — covers foundational engineering science used to identify and solve building‑related problems.
• Cooperative Education and Job Readiness (GEP1001) — prepares students for professional job search and workplace success.
• Calculus I (MAT6443) — differential calculus and applications of the derivative.

Entry requirements

This is a four‑year honours degree credential. Graduates of the Architectural Technician Ontario College Diploma program may apply to this pathway and, if admitted, receive credit for 17 courses, shortening the time to degree completion to three years. The program is PGWP‑eligible under current guidelines. Co‑op placements are subject to availability and academic eligibility; admission to the co‑op program does not guarantee a placement.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for roles that require understanding of building performance and systems. Typical outcomes indicated by the program include work as building scientists, architectural or construction project managers, energy consultants, building inspectors, researchers, junior analysts, entrepreneurs, or technical staff in engineering firms or government agencies.
