Programme overview

This Master of Arts is a 33-credit graduate program delivered online by Antioch University New England in partnership with the Institute for Humane Education. It is recommended for people working outside traditional school classrooms who wish to educate about the interconnections among people, animals, and the environment to promote systemic, long-term change. An optional one-week summer residency (3 credits) at the Institute for Humane Education in Surry, Maine counts as an elective.

What you'll study

Entry requirements

Applicants complete an online admissions application and submit essay responses, a resume/CV, and a non-refundable $50 application fee. Official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended must be provided by email or mail. Two letters of recommendation are required from individuals able to evaluate the applicant's academic or professional work (not relatives). Selected applicants may be asked to interview with a faculty member in person, by phone, or via Skype. There are additional requirements for international applicants. Application deadlines are April 15 for Summer, August 15 for Fall, and December 15 for Spring.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Antioch offers the President's Merit Scholarships to incoming master's students who meet academic and experience criteria (minimum 3.40 GPA). Awards of $6,000 are distributed equally over the first two academic years; recipients must remain enrolled full-time, maintain satisfactory progress, and complete each registered course to retain the award.
