What you'll study

Interns build practical clinical and professional competencies through two primary activities:

• Providing brief counseling to Aquinas students presenting with concerns related to college life.
• Designing and implementing educational trainings for the student body.

Entry requirements

• Enrollment in an accredited Master’s program in social work, counseling (CACREP accredited), or psychology.
• Availability from May to May and ability to commit 20+ hours per week.
• Reliable transportation.
• If an Aquinas undergraduate alum, at least a four‑year gap between undergraduate graduation year and internship start year.

Career prospects

The internship develops hands‑on counseling skills and experience in program design for those pursuing clinical or campus mental health roles. Participants can expect to strengthen practical competencies useful for licensure pathways, clinical practicum requirements, or employment in college counseling centers, community mental health, or student affairs settings.

Scholarships & funding angle

The internship is unpaid. Prospective applicants should plan for self‑funding, stipend alternatives, or academic practicum credit through their home institution; contact your degree program advisor or Aquinas College counseling office for guidance on crediting or concurrent funding options.
