The MBiolSci (Hons) at the University of Liverpool is an integrated master’s degree that combines broad-based biological training with advanced, research-led study. The MBiolSci is a four-year integrated programme that begins with foundational modules in cell biology, genetics, biochemistry and ecology, and progresses to more specialised and research-focused topics in later years. Early years cover molecular and cellular mechanisms, organismal physiology, microbiology and evolutionary biology, alongside practical laboratory skills and statistics. In intermediate years you will encounter modules in molecular genetics, immunology, systems biology, bioinformatics and advanced ecology, with options to study subjects such as neuroscience, developmental biology, marine biology, biotechnology and infectious disease.

Entry is normally via UCAS for school leavers. Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong achievement in science subjects, particularly biology and a second science or mathematics. Acceptable qualifications include A-levels, BTECs, the International Baccalaureate and recognised international equivalents.
Applicants with vocational qualifications or mature applicants with relevant experience (including Access to Higher Education diplomas) are considered; successful admission typically requires evidence of numeracy and laboratory competence. All applicants must satisfy any standard university requirements for English language proficiency if their prior education was not in English.
