What you'll study

Students take small, fully online courses that combine theoretical exploration with practical application. Course selection is individualized to address identified pedagogical "growing edges" from site-based licensure processes or the student’s reflective practice. The program supports experiential learning, creation of classroom tools and strategies, and collaboration with educators from diverse contexts.

Entry requirements

To apply students complete an online admissions application and submit:

• Essay responses (admissions and program-specific)
• Resume or CV
• Non-refundable $50 application fee
• Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended (emailed or mailed to the Office of Admissions)
• Two letters of recommendation from professional or academic evaluators (not related to the applicant)

Additional requirements apply for international applicants and applicants without a bachelor’s degree. Selected applicants will interview with a faculty member (in person, by phone, or via Skype). The program does not require the GRE or other standardized tests.

Career prospects

This certificate is intended to support early-career and alternatively licensed teachers to strengthen classroom practice and meet school- or site-based licensure expectations. Graduates will have identified and worked on specific pedagogical "growing edges," reflected on their student experiences to inform current teaching, and applied mentor feedback to improve practice. The program is suited to educators who want targeted professional development while remaining in the classroom.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Antioch University New England notes that most students use some form of financial aid. Program tuition is listed at $840 per credit for the Certificate in Teaching and Learning; the program totals 15 credits. A 10% discount is available for three or more students from the same school or district attending AUNE Education MEd or Certificate programs concurrently (specific conditions apply). The admissions office can advise on federal, state, public, and private aid options.
