What you'll study

The LLB Business Law provides the Foundations of Legal Knowledge required for a qualifying law degree alongside a programme of business-focused legal modules. In year one you study core subjects such as Contract Law, Tort, Criminal Law, Public/Constitutional Law and Legal Research & Skills to build a strong base in legal principles and reasoning.

In the second and final years you choose from a suite of business and commercial options alongside advanced doctrinal modules. Typical modules include Company Law, Commercial Law, Employment Law, Competition & Consumer Law, Insolvency, Banking and Finance Law, Intellectual Property, and International Trade/Commercial Transactions. Students also take advanced modules in Evidence, Land Law or Administrative Law, and legal skills modules that focus on drafting, negotiation, advocacy and client interviewing.

The programme emphasises practical skills through assessed moots, negotiation exercises, drafting assessments and a supervised research project or dissertation. Swansea offers optional opportunities for a year-long professional placement or study abroad through exchange partners, enabling practical experience in commercial law settings or comparative legal systems.

Entry requirements

Applicants are usually expected to have completed a recognised secondary qualification suitable for UK undergraduate entry. Typical offers are expressed as A-level or equivalent qualifications; applicants with vocational qualifications such as BTECs, Scottish Highers, Irish Leaving Certificate, or international equivalents are considered. Swansea also welcomes mature applicants and those with relevant work experience.

Successful applicants should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to construct reasoned arguments.
