What you'll study

The Graduate Entry LLB condenses the foundational elements of an undergraduate law degree into an accelerated programme for graduates. Core subjects typically include Contract Law, Tort Law, Criminal Law, Public/Constitutional Law, Land Law (Property), Equity and Trusts, and the foundations of EU/International Law and Legal Research and Skills. These modules meet the academic requirements of a qualifying law degree and are supported by classes in legal method, legal writing, advocacy and professional ethics.

Alongside compulsory subjects you will study practice-focused modules and skills sessions designed to develop client interviewing, negotiation, drafting and advocacy. Leicester places emphasis on formative experience: options frequently include clinical placements via the Leicester Law Clinic, pro bono projects, mooting and simulation exercises. Independent research is encouraged through dissertations or extended projects where available, allowing you to specialise in areas such as commercial law, human rights, family law or criminal justice.

Entry requirements

This programme is for applicants who already hold an undergraduate degree. Typical offers ask for a good honours degree (usually at least second class) in any discipline; applicants with professional experience or alternative qualifications may also be considered. Admissions assess academic performance, a personal statement demonstrating motivation for legal study and, where required, references.

Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English language proficiency at the level required by the University. International qualifications are considered on their merits and the Admissions Office provides guidance on acceptable equivalences and documentation.
