What you'll study

This degree integrates core biochemistry — including metabolism, enzyme kinetics and structural biology — with genetics topics such as molecular genetics, genomics and gene regulation. Teaching typically combines lectures, small-group tutorials and hands-on laboratory work to develop practical skills in molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning), protein analysis, bioinformatics and data interpretation. You will also study supporting subjects such as cell biology, microbiology, statistics for biosciences and research methods.

The programme pathway usually progresses from foundational modules in years 1 and 2 to more specialised options and independent research in the final year. Entry requirements

Entry is normally based on academic qualifications with a strong science background.
