The Bachelor of Science in Public Health at Abu Dhabi University is a professionally oriented undergraduate degree that prepares students to design, implement and evaluate public health programmes across community, governmental and private settings. It suits students interested in population health, disease prevention, health promotion and policy, and who want a mix of classroom study, laboratory work and field placement experience.

What you'll study

The programme provides a broad foundation in the principles and practice of public health. Core topics include epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, health promotion and education, infectious disease control, health systems and policy, research methods, and global health. Practical laboratory skills in microbiology and environmental testing are combined with qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Students follow a combination of compulsory core modules and elective options, enabling specialisation in areas such as community health, environmental health, health policy, or health promotion. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, case studies, group projects, laboratory sessions and community‑based placements.

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate English proficiency through recognised tests or equivalent institutional assessments. Abu Dhabi University may also offer foundation or preparatory pathways for candidates who need additional preparation before entering the BSc programme.

Selection may include review of academic transcripts, a personal statement and, where applicable, an interview. Specific entry criteria are provided by the university and can vary by campus.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for roles across public, private and non‑profit sectors that focus on population health and preventive services. Common entry‑level positions include public health officer, health promotion practitioner, disease surveillance officer, environmental health officer, research assistant and community outreach coordinator. Graduates also work in hospitals, primary care networks, governmental health authorities, international organisations, consultancy firms and NGOs.
