What you'll study

The course covers the clinical pathway from prevention to rehabilitation alongside underpinning sciences. Core topics include human anatomy, biomechanics and physiology; injury assessment and treatment techniques; therapeutic interventions and hands-on clinical skills; and exercise science and recovery programming. In the foundation year, students study modules such as Core Academic Skills for Health and Social Care; Personal Development and Teamworking for Health and Social Care; Communication Skills in Health and Social Care; Evidence in Health and Social Care; Enquiry Based Care; and Introduction to Ethics within Health and Social Care.

Entry requirements

A typical offer requires a UCAS tariff of 112–136 for the three-year full-time degree, or 32–56 for the four-year route that includes a Foundation Year. Applicants must include a pass in one of: Physical Education, Sports Studies or a science (for example Human Biology). GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above and a minimum of two full A-levels (or equivalent) are required. UCAS points may come from A levels, T levels, BTEC or an Access to HE course. Every application is considered individually; applicants who do not meet requirements may be invited to a compulsory interview (online or face-to-face). Successful applicants must complete an Enhanced DBS check; an optional Applicant Visit Afternoon is offered.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared to work in sports rehabilitation settings including on-field support for athletes, clinical practice in on-campus or public clinics, private practice or freelance roles. Industry links and placement opportunities are embedded in the course to build employability and practical experience.
