See the degree grade →A practical undergraduate degree that trains students to generate and present creative advertising campaigns, suited to imaginative communicators who want to work in agencies or related creative industries. Available as a three-year programme or a four-year option including a Foundation Year to build study skills and creative confidence.
Course teaching emphasises creative problem-solving, pitching and iterative development. You will learn to decode briefs, generate strategic and creative ideas, and present work in critique sessions that mimic agency practice. Collaboration across disciplines (for example with Film & TV and Graphic Design students) and exposure to real live briefs, agency visits and major competitions form a key part of the learning experience.
A typical UCAS tariff offer is 88–112 points for the three-year full-time degree or 32–56 points for the four-year programme with Foundation Year. UCAS points may be awarded from A levels, T levels, BTEC, Access to HE or other recognised qualifications in relevant subjects. All applications are considered individually; applicants who lack previous study or experience may be offered the four-year route. The course team welcomes creative applicants and can discuss evidence of creative potential.
Graduates leave with practical campaign work and pitching experience intended to build a book for agency roles. The course emphasises preparing students for agency life: presenting to creatives, handling feedback and networking. Alumni from the programme have progressed to roles at recognised agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, BBH, VCCP, Mother, TBWA and Droga5, and many former students remain involved in mentoring and delivering workshops for current cohorts.
Students should explore university-wide scholarships, bursaries and financial support available through Buckinghamshire New University; applicants are also advised to check external scholarship bodies and industry-funded competitions or prizes that commonly support creative students.
