What you'll study

The curriculum builds from fundamentals in year one through specialised network and systems topics in later years. Teaching blends theory with lab-based, industry-aligned practice and a capstone project.

• Year 1: fundamentals of IT, programming (Introduction to Programming), databases, Mathematics for Computing, Discrete Mathematics, Data Communication Networks, Fundamentals of Computing, Data Structures and Algorithms, Software Engineering and Technical Writing.
• Year 2: operating systems, system administration, data communications, wireless networks, network management and artificial intelligence.
• Year 3: cloud technologies and virtualization, enterprise networking, system security, advanced network engineering, enterprise system administration and a capstone project.
• Year 4: comprehensive research project, industrial training, Software Defined Networking, governance, risk and compliance, and emerging network technologies such as robotics, IoT and DevOps.

Entry requirements

Local applicants must have a minimum of three S passes at GCE A/L in one sitting, including Combined Mathematics and Physics. Cambridge/Edexcel applicants require a minimum of three D passes in one sitting including Combined Mathematics and Physics (or equivalent). All applicants must also pass the SLIIT aptitude test.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for operational and engineering roles in IT infrastructure. Typical job titles listed by the programme include Network Engineer, Systems Administrator, Cloud Architect, Cybersecurity Analyst and IT Infrastructure Specialist. The course also highlights industry-relevant lab work and internships with local IT firms, telecoms and multinational companies to support employability.
