A four-year honours degree combining computing and electronics to train students in hardware–software integration, embedded systems, digital design and systems engineering. Best suited to applicants who want hands-on work with microcontrollers, digital circuits and networked systems and who plan technical roles in embedded/IoT, systems design or network/cloud engineering.

What you'll study

The curriculum emphasises hardware–software integration and career-ready applied skills. Core topic areas named in the programme include computer architecture, digital electronics, embedded systems engineering, control systems engineering, networking, database management, virtualization and cloud computing, information security, robotics and bio-inspired computing.   • Second year: subjects listed include Computer Networks, Database Management, System Modeling, Communication Technologies, Circuit Theory and Control Theory.
  • Third year: Digital System Design, Embedded Systems Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Industry Economics and Management, plus industrial training.
  • Fourth year: Research project, further industrial training, Robotics, Information Security, Bio‑inspired Computing, Virtualization and Cloud Computing.

Entry requirements

Local GCE A/L applicants need a minimum of two C passes and one S pass in the Physical Science stream (Combined Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry) and must pass a special aptitude test administered by the Faculty of Computing. Cambridge/Edexcel A/L applicants require at least two B passes and one C pass in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry, plus the same faculty aptitude test.
