What you'll study

Coursework covers a mix of computing fundamentals, software engineering and business-oriented information systems across four years. Example topics and modules include:

• Year 1: Fundamentals of IT, Introduction to Programming, Fundamentals of Computing, Mathematics for Computing, Discrete Mathematics, Data Structures and Algorithms, Software Engineering, Technical Writing, and Data Communication Networks.
• Year 2: Operating Systems, Object Oriented Programming, Requirement Engineering, System Administration and Artificial Intelligence.
• Year 3: Industrial Economics and Management, Organizational Functions, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, IS Strategies and Enterprise Architecture.
• Year 4: Comprehensive Research Project, Industrial Training (mandatory six-month internship), Business Process Management, Digital Entrepreneurship, IS Auditing, Supply Chain Management and emerging enterprise IT solutions.

Students also gain hands-on exposure to enterprise tools and platforms noted by the programme such as SAP ERP, Salesforce, Power BI, AWS and Microsoft Azure, alongside cybersecurity frameworks.

Entry requirements

Local GCE A/L applicants need a minimum of three "S" passes in the Physical Sciences or Engineering Technology stream in one sitting, or three "S" passes in any other stream plus a "C" in O/L Mathematics and completion of SLIIT's IT Bridging Programme. Applicants who took Information & Communication Technology at A/L and have a "C" in O/L Mathematics are exempt from the bridging programme. For Cambridge/Edexcel A/Ls a minimum of three "D" passes in mathematics-related subjects is required, or three "D" passes in other subjects plus a "C" in O/L Mathematics and completion of the IT Bridging Programme; Information Technology/Computer Science A/L candidates with a "C" in O/L Mathematics are exempt. Students must also pass SLIIT's Aptitude Test and meet a minimum GPA at the end of 2nd year 1st semester to follow the Information Systems Engineering specialisation.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for roles that sit between business and technology. Typical career paths listed by the programme include Business Analyst, Systems Engineer, IT Consultant, Enterprise Architect and IT Project Manager. The curriculum and mandatory industrial training aim to develop skills for enterprise system design, IT governance, data analytics and digital transformation projects.
