What you'll study

The degree comprises 24 standard units (432 points). Required components include:

• 4 units in Biblical Studies (Field B), including at least one unit in each Testament
• 2 units in Church History (CH)
• 4 units in Systematic Theology (CT)
• 2 units in Theology: Mission and Ministry (Field D)
• An undergraduate Capstone unit
• A further 11 units chosen to build breadth and depth

Course rules state no more than 12 units may be at Bachelor Level 1 and at least 6 units must be at Bachelor Level 3, including 2 Level 3 units in either Biblical Studies or Systematic Theology. Students in a Pastoral Studies stream normally follow a prescribed sequence, sometimes integrating study from the Bachelor of Ministry, and may undertake study in a ministry setting as part of the program.

Entry requirements

Entry requires successful completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Applicants whose first language is not English must meet English language proficiency standards in the Admissions Policy. The college operates credit transfer and recognition of prior learning (RPL) policies; students should contact course advisers for advice, especially those seeking to follow the Pastoral Studies stream.

Career prospects

Graduates emerge with broad, coherent and critical knowledge of Christian theological traditions and methodologies, plus focused expertise in at least one area. The course prepares students to communicate theological insights, engage contemporary culture, and provides a theologically informed basis for service in community and world. It also prepares students for further theological study and can include practical ministry-related learning for those pursuing pastoral pathways.
